INTERSTATE HIGHWAY SIGNS

London, AR (October 2001). Current Arkansas interstate sign. Arkansas is one of a handful of states that still puts the state name on its signs.

Ft. Smith, AR (October 2001). Interstate signs on big green signs do not include the state name.

Ft. Smith, AR (October 2001). Another gantry photo.

STATE ROUTE SIGNS

London, AR (October 2001). Current style Arkansas state route marker. Note that three-digit routes use an extended 36" sign with a slightly distorted map.

Older style state route marker. This cut-out style was used from the 1920's into the early 1960's. This sign, featured on Ebay, is probably from the late 50's or early 60's since it has a Scotchlite reflective background. (Owner unknown).

Embossed state route marker. These were probably phased out during the 1940's. Note that STATE ROAD was later changed to ARKANSAS (Collection of Robert Edgar).
